Residents will be introduced to the concept of mandalas and then guided through creating their own symmetrical and intricate designs using compasses, rulers, and a variety of coloring tools. The focus will be on the meditative aspect of the creation process and using colors to express positive emotions or intentions. This activity promotes focus and a sense of calm accomplishment.

Purpose of the Activity

This activity is designed to be more than just a craft; it's a mindful experience. The primary goals are to:

Promote Relaxation and Mindfulness: The repetitive, structured nature of creating a mandala helps reduce stress and anxiety, allowing residents to focus on the present moment.
Enhance Cognitive Skills: Using tools like a compass and ruler, planning a symmetrical design, and making artistic choices all help maintain concentration, spatial awareness, and problem-solving skills.
Encourage Self-Expression: Residents can use colors and shapes to express positive feelings, intentions, or memories without needing words.
Boost Self-Esteem: Finishing a beautiful, intricate piece of art provides a wonderful sense of pride and accomplishment.
Foster Social Connection: Creating in a shared, calm space allows for gentle conversation and a sense of community.
