Using pre-cut squares of colorful paper (yellows, oranges, light blues), residents will create a simple mosaic on a cardstock background. The act of placing the pieces and seeing the vibrant "sunshine" colors will encourage them to recall positive experiences and share a happy memory prompted by the colors.
Purpose of the Activity
This activity is designed to provide a gentle and joyful creative outlet for residents in memory care. The bright, warm colors are chosen to evoke feelings of happiness and nostalgia, creating a natural opportunity for reminiscence. The simple, repetitive motion of placing paper squares can be calming and meditative. This project promotes self-expression, provides sensory stimulation through color and touch, and helps maintain fine motor skills. Most importantly, it fosters social connection and emotional well-being as residents share positive memories in a supportive group setting.
