Staff will slowly introduce and describe a few key ingredients for peanut butter cookies (e.g., flour, sugar, peanut butter in a sealed container). Residents can gently touch or smell each ingredient as staff describe its role in making the cookie. This activity focuses on sensory recognition and simple identification, connecting to the larger theme of the day's treat.
Purpose of the Activity
This activity is designed to create a warm and comforting experience by engaging the senses. Familiar smells and textures associated with baking can unlock positive emotions and cherished memories of home, family, and celebration. The purpose is not to test memory, but to provide gentle sensory stimulation, encourage social interaction, and foster a sense of connection and well-being. It provides a calm, failure-free way for residents to participate, feel successful, and enjoy a shared, pleasant moment.
