We will begin our adventure by exploring the life-giving Nile River. Residents will listen to gentle sounds of flowing water, view large, vibrant photos of the river, and touch cool blue fabrics to evoke the feeling of this famous waterway.

Purpose of the activity

This activity is designed to provide a gentle sensory experience that promotes relaxation, calm, and emotional well-being. The goal is not to test memory or knowledge, but to create a peaceful and immersive environment. By engaging the senses of hearing, sight, and touch, we aim to spark curiosity, offer comfort, and create moments of pleasant connection for residents.

Materials needed

A sound system or portable Bluetooth speaker.
A pre-selected audio track of gentle, flowing river or water sounds (easily found on YouTube or relaxation apps).
Large, simple, and vibrant laminated photographs of the Nile River. Focus on images of calm water, green riverbanks, traditional felucca sailboats, and simple birds. Avoid busy or complex scenes. A slideshow on a tablet or television also works well.
A collection of fabrics in shades of blue and green with various textures. Good options include satin, silk, velvet, and soft fleece.
Optional: A small basket of smooth, clean river stones.
Optional: An essential oil diffuser with a light, fresh scent like rain, cucumber, or mint.

Estimated duration

15-30 minutes. This activity is flexible. Adjust the length based on the mood and engagement level of the group. It is better to have a short, positive experience than a long, tiring one.

Ideal group size

3-6 residents. A small group size is best for this activity, as it allows you to provide personalized attention and a more intimate, calming experience for everyone involved.
