"Who Killed the Croquet Champion?"
TypeSocial
Level of careIndependent Living
Residents are presented with a brief, humorous narrative describing the demise of a fictional croquet champion and a list of 4-5 suspects, each with a quirky motive. They work in small groups to review the "evidence" (a few prop items like a "poisoned" teacup, a "threatening" letter, and a "blood-stained" mallet – all clearly fake and safe) and deduce the killer.
Brief Overview
Welcome to the scandalous world of competitive croquet! In this lighthearted social mystery, residents will work together to solve the untimely (and hilarious) demise of our fictional champion, Bartholomew "Barty" Buttercup. Residents will be divided into small groups of "detectives" to examine clues, review suspect profiles, and debate motives. It’s a game of wit, teamwork, and laughter—no actual foul play involved!

A printed list of the four suspect profiles.

One sealed envelope labeled “THE SOLUTION,” containing the killer’s identity and confession.
Prop Evidence (to be placed on a central "Evidence Table"):
Clue #1: The “Poisoned” Teacup: A fancy teacup and saucer with a small, clearly-marked tag that says "POISON - Beatrice's Blend." (You can use cold tea or colored water inside).
Clue #2: The “Threatening” Letter: A piece of paper with handwriting (make it look slightly frantic) that reads: “Barty, you’ve won for the last time. Your reign is over. Soon, the trophy will be MINE! - P.P.”
Clue #3: The “Blood-Stained” Mallet: A croquet mallet with a few smudges of red, non-toxic craft paint on the head. Make sure it's obviously fake.
Clue #4: The Suspicious Betting Slip: A fake betting slip showing a large wager on Chester Chipshot to win the tournament, dated from last year’s competition.
Optional Fun Props: A few magnifying glasses, detective hats, or fake pipes for residents to use.
