Brief Overview

Delve into the wonders of the night sky, specifically focusing on constellations visible in July or significant astronomical events. Residents can learn about the mythology behind constellations, discuss historical celebrations tied to the stars, and "draw" their own constellations on paper.

Purpose of the activity

This activity is designed to provide cognitive stimulation, encourage social interaction, and spark creativity. By learning about constellations and creating their own, residents engage in a purposeful and meaningful task. The vocational aspect is fulfilled through the roles of "celestial artist" and "storyteller," where residents contribute their unique creations and narratives to the group, fostering a sense of accomplishment and community. It also promotes reminiscence and provides a calm, sensory-rich experience.

Materials needed

Large-print, high-contrast images of 2-3 prominent constellations for the current month (e.g., for July: Cygnus the Swan, Scorpius the Scorpion).
