Purpose of the Activity

The "Hoppy" Hour Trivia Challenge is designed to be more than just a game. Its primary goals are to:

Promote Cognitive Stimulation: Encourages memory recall, critical thinking, and learning new and interesting facts.
Foster Social Interaction: Team-based play creates a wonderful opportunity for residents to collaborate, chat, and build camaraderie.
Boost Mood and Morale: A lighthearted, fun-filled event with laughter and friendly competition can significantly enhance residents' spirits.
Create a Festive Atmosphere: Taps into the joyful themes of spring and Easter to create a vibrant and engaging environment.

Materials Needed

For the Game:
Trivia Questions: A list of 30-40 questions divided into 3 or 4 rounds. (See sample questions below).
Answer Sheets: One per team, per round. Clearly label with "Round 1," "Round 2," etc., and a space for the team name.
Pens or Pencils: Plenty for each team.
Host's Master Sheet: A copy of all questions and their correct answers.
Prizes: Small prizes for the winning team (e.g., boxes of gourmet chocolates, small potted spring flowers, themed coffee mugs, or gift cards to the community bistro).
Sound System/Microphone: Essential for ensuring everyone can hear the host clearly.
Optional - Visuals: A projector or large TV to display questions, or a whiteboard to write them on.

For the Atmosphere:
Refreshments: Light "Hoppy" Hour snacks and drinks. Think sparkling cider, iced tea, pastel-colored cookies, cheese and crackers, and a fresh fruit platter.
Decorations: Spring or Easter-themed decor such as pastel tablecloths, fresh flowers (tulips or daffodils), and small decorative bunnies.
Music: A playlist of upbeat, cheerful instrumental or classic spring-themed music to play softly in the background.
Team Name Cards: Tented cards for teams to write their creative names on.

Estimated Duration

60-90 minutes: This allows enough time for socializing, three rounds of trivia, and awarding prizes without feeling rushed.

Ideal Group Size

10-30 Residents: This size is large enough to feel energetic and competitive but small enough to remain manageable for one activity leader. This would create 3-6 teams.
