We would like to create a Tuckahoe Pines Cookbook of all of our resident's favorite recipes. Rather than just dropping off their recipes, I would like to make an activity out of it.
Brief Overview
This is a multi-session social club designed to gather and celebrate the favorite recipes of our residents. Over the course of the summer, we will meet to share the stories and memories behind our most beloved dishes. The goal is to create a beautiful, collaborative "Tuckahoe Pines Cookbook" that serves as a cherished legacy for our community.
Purpose of the Activity
The primary purpose is to foster a strong sense of community and connection among residents. This activity encourages reminiscence, celebrates the diverse life experiences and cultural backgrounds of each person, and validates their personal histories. By contributing to a tangible project, residents gain a sense of purpose and create a lasting gift for themselves, their families, and future residents.
Materials Needed
Custom recipe submission forms (include fields for Resident Name, Recipe Title, Ingredients, Instructions, and "The Story Behind My Recipe")
Pens and pencils
Large-print recipe cards for residents who prefer handwriting
A decorated and clearly labeled "Recipe Submission Box"
Name tags for residents
Coffee, tea, water, and light snacks for each meeting
A whiteboard or easel and markers for writing down ideas
A microphone and speaker system (if in a large room)
A camera to take photos of the group and contributors (with permission)
Estimated Duration
Each meeting should last approximately 60 to 90 minutes. This provides enough time for structured activity and informal social conversation without feeling rushed.
