Purpose of the Activity

This activity is designed to provide intellectual stimulation and a sense of adventure through "armchair travel". It encourages social interaction, sparks curiosity about world history and culture, and offers a creative way to engage in problem-solving. The goal is to create a fun, educational, and memorable experience that transports residents to another time and place.

Materials Needed

Technology: A large-screen television or projector, a computer with internet access, and speakers for sound.
Visuals: A pre-prepared slideshow with high-quality images of the Giza Pyramids, the Sphinx, the Valley of the Kings, and artifacts from Tutankhamun's tomb. Bookmarked links to a virtual tour (e.g., Google Maps Street View of Giza) and a short, reputable documentary clip (2-3 minutes) are also recommended.
Handouts:
Large-print copies of a simple hieroglyphic alphabet chart for each participant.
Pre-printed puzzle worksheets with a simple word to decode (e.g., NILE, SUN, KING).
Supplies: Pencils or pens for the worksheets.
Optional Props:
Egyptian-themed background music (instrumental and atmospheric).
Simple decorations like gold streamers or printed images of scarab beetles to set the mood.
Magnifying glasses for residents who may need assistance seeing the handouts.
