This team based drawing-and-guessing game is a fun, social activity that promotes listening, laughter and a ton of fun - while challenging other teams of residents!
Purpose of the Activity
Pictionary is a wonderful way to bring residents together for an afternoon of creativity, teamwork, and laughter. This classic guessing game encourages social interaction and lighthearted competition in a supportive environment. The primary goals are to foster friendships, stimulate cognitive skills like quick thinking and problem-solving, and provide a fun, engaging experience where artistic talent is not a requirement. It is all about having a good time together.
Materials Needed
- A large whiteboard or an easel with a flip chart pad.
- Dry-erase markers in a few different colors.
- A whiteboard eraser or cloth.
- A timer (a 60-second sand timer is fun, but a phone timer works well too).
- A bowl, hat, or bag to hold word cards.
- Pre-made word cards, cut into individual slips. A list of 50-60 words is a good start.
- Comfortable seating for all participants.
- Optional: Small, simple prizes for the winning team (e.g., wrapped candies or small decorative items).
Estimated Duration
45-60 minutes. This provides enough time for several rounds of play, allowing multiple people to draw, without the activity feeling too long.
Ideal Group Size
8 to 16 participants. This allows for two to four teams of a manageable size, ensuring that everyone feels involved and has an opportunity to participate.
