A themed Jeopardy-style game featuring categories like "Dinosaur Names," "Prehistoric Periods," "Fossil Facts," and "Movie Dinos." Residents will buzz in to answer questions, earning points for their teams, and enjoy a fun, knowledge-based challenge that sparks conversation and friendly rivalry.

Purpose of the Activity

Jurassic Jeopardy! is designed to be more than just a game; it's a vibrant social event that stimulates the mind and encourages connection. The primary goals are:

Cognitive Engagement: To challenge memory recall, encourage learning new facts, and keep minds active and sharp.
Social Interaction: To foster teamwork, friendly competition, and shared laughter in a positive and supportive group setting.
Mood Enhancement: To provide a fun, engaging, and novel activity that boosts spirits and creates lasting, positive memories.
Sparking Conversation: The theme can trigger memories of museum visits, classic movies, and childhood interests, leading to organic conversations among residents.

Materials Needed

Game Board: A large whiteboard, chalkboard, or poster board set up in a grid format with categories and point values (100, 200, 300, 400, 500).
Pro Tip: A PowerPoint or Google Slides presentation projected onto a screen works wonderfully for a professional look.
Questions and Answers: Pre-written questions for each category and point value, printed on index cards or in a document for the host. (Sample questions provided below).
Buzzers: One for each team. These can be simple dollar-store bells, squeaky toys, or party kazoos. You can also have teams designate one person to raise their hand first.
Scorekeeping System: A separate small whiteboard or notepad to track team scores.
Team Name Cards: Tents cards for teams to write their fun, prehistoric-themed names on.
Prizes (Optional but Recommended): Small, fun prizes for the winning team, such as dinosaur-themed candies, chocolate gold coins, or a "Jurassic Champion" certificate.
Themed Ambiance (Optional):
Music: A playlist of adventure movie scores (like Jurassic Park or Indiana Jones).
Snacks: "Fossil Cookies" (sugar cookies with a toy dinosaur foot pressed in before baking), "Pterodactyl Wings" (chicken wings), or "Volcano Punch" (red fruit punch).
