A brief introduction to artificial intelligence (AI). What is it and how it's being used all around us?

Purpose of the Activity

This activity is designed to demystify artificial intelligence in a friendly and accessible way. The goal is to foster lifelong learning, empower residents with knowledge about the modern world, and spark engaging conversation. By connecting AI to familiar, everyday technologies, residents can feel more comfortable and confident with the tools they and their families use.

Materials Needed

A large-screen television or a projector and screen
A laptop or tablet with an internet connection
Speakers for clear audio from videos or devices
A handout with key terms and examples, printed in large, easy-to-read font
Optional: A smart speaker (like an Amazon Echo or Google Home) for a live demonstration
A whiteboard or flip chart with markers
Pens and paper for any residents who wish to take notes

Estimated Duration

45-60 minutes

Ideal Group Size

5-15 residents. A smaller group size allows for more personal interaction and makes it easier for everyone to ask questions and participate in the discussion.
